Bushka’s Refrigerator Rolls

Ingredients

1/3 lb tender flake 1 cup boiling water 1 cup cold water 6 cups flour 3/4 cups white sugar 2 tsp yeast + 1/2 cup warm water+1 tsp sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp salt 1 tsp almond flavor (optional)

Method

350-375 20 minutes Cream tender flake and sugar, add boiling water and cool. Add yeast into 1/2 cup warm water with 1 tsp sugar. Add yeast to tender flake mixture and add cold water. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour and salt. Knead well. Place in refrigerator overnight or until wanted. Roll into desired shapes and let rise for 1 hour. Bake in hot oven for 20 minutes. The dough may be kept for several days.

Notes

These are the dinner rolls that Bushka always made into flowers, birds, slip knots and twists. She used to brush them with an egg wash and sometimes put sesame seeds on the top. They are similar to egg bread rolls.
