Wacky Cake

1-1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 cup white sugar 3 tbsp cocoa 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda pinch salt 1 tbsp vinegar 1 tsp vanilla 5 tbsps shortening melted 1 cup lukewarm water

350 25-30 minutes leave cake in pan to cool Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt into an ungreased 8x8 cake pan. Make 3 holesin the dry ingredients. Put vinegar in one, vainlla in another and the melted shortening in the last hole. Pour lukewarm water over all ingredients. Stir until smooth.

When I was younger this is one of the cakes that gramma used to let me make because it was made all in the cake pan and there was very little mess. We made it often.
